God tells us to declare his glory to all nations and spread the message of salvation to all people.

Christ commissions us with the power of the Holy Spirit and sends us out to witness to all, from across the street to around the world. At Brookwood we base our missions on Acts 1:8, reaching people in the following places:

Jerusalem Ministries (local)

Alabama Baptist Children's Homes

Alabama Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries seeks to protect, nurture, and restore children and families by providing group homes, campuses, foster homes, family care for homeless moms with children, and counseling services. Contact Kay Taylor for more information.

Backpack Buddies

Backpack Buddies is a nationwide children’s feeding program during the school year which provides nutritious snacks and simple meals for children over the weekend. Targeting children ages 5-12, this mission provides those children who receive free or reduced-cost lunches and breakfasts at their schools with food for the weekend. Most “buddies” are experiencing homelessness, foster care, shelter care, food insecurity, or other adverse family situations. This ministry began in August 2016. Discovery Clubs

Discovery Clubs are free, after-school Bible clubs for children in grades 2-5 on public school campuses-a modern-day mission field. This fun-filled hour consists of a snack, Bible lesson, memory verses, praise, and worship through singing, dancing, crafts, small group prayer, and mentoring time. Local churches sponsor these clubs with prayer, financial contributions, and volunteer support. Discovery Clubs meet for one hour per week, 23 weeks a year. Many Brookwood members lead Discover Clubs, but volunteers are needed. Volunteers are needed for this outreach mission. If you would like to become involved, email  

Early Childhood Center of Brookwood Baptist Church

The “ECC” is the childcare center located at Brookwood Baptist Church and is a mission of the church. The church supports their continuing efforts to provide a safe, Christian environment for children, in which they may learn, grow, and build relationships. Firehouse Shelter

The Firehouse Shelter is one of Brookwood’s oldest long-term mission opportunities. Volunteers work from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm on the 2nd Monday and 5th Thursday of each month. Contact Angie Sanders, the Brookwood Coordinator, for more information.

Jobs for Life

Jobs for Life mission is to provide Bible-based work preparation, instruction, and mentoring through sixteen classes over an eight-week period with continued mentoring and discipleship following graduation.  At present, Jobs for Life is serving with True Vine.

M-Power Ministries

Partnering with Dawson, Vestavia Hills, and New Hope churches, Brookwood provides funding and volunteers to work with literacy missions, after-school tutoring, a medical clinic, tax assistance, benevolence, holiday aid, family programs, and more. Rooted Ministry exists to transform student ministry by fostering grace-driven and cross-centered leaders through rich theological and contextual engagement.

True Vine Evangelical Church

True Vine ministers to the Inglenook community of Birmingham and runs the “Discipling Men and Women for Christ” treatment program for substance abuse. For the past several years, BBC has partnered with and supported True Vine in discerning how best to reach the needy and unchurched in their community. Judea Ministries (North America)

Appalachian Trail Mission

The Appalachian Trail missionaries join hikers in Damascus, VA,  for a long weekend festival called "Trail Days'. Our objective is to share the love of Jesus in every interaction with hikers, from sharing meals, providing foot care and first aid, to hosting a welcome tent.  Contact Charles Vianey to register or for more information.

Construction Mission (Builders for Christ)

Since 1981, the Brookwood Builders for Christ have led an extensive effort to expand the Body of Believers by constructing new or improving existing churches all across the U.S. (Click here to see a complete list of these projects.)  Although we are builders, the focus is not just on construction, but in helping communities improve their facilities in order to reach out and minister to their communities and beyond.  The 2024 Project was in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, building a church for Haven Church that currently meets in an old Sears Building. Youth Summer Mission 

Each year the BBC youth serve a community somewhere in the U.S.  They have been to the west and east coasts, as well as serving in the southeast many times.  This mission allows youth from 7th-12th grades, an opportunity to meet and work with people and in areas outside of their everyday experience. Samaria Ministries (Latin America & Western Europe)

Nicaragua Missions:  Light of the Morning Baptist Church and Monte Hermon School 

The object of this ministry is to support the children and adults of Cedro Galan and to transform the community through the church and Christian Education. Contact Frank Page for more information. 

Rio Medical Mission

Each year, a group travels to Rio de Janeiro to operate a health, eye, and dental clinic in the poorest favelas of the city. Contact Phillip Huggins or Stacey Gilbert for more information.

Ends of the Earth (Africa & Asia)

East Africa Jesus Harvesters Mission

Mongolia Military Mission

Each year, Bill Dean and Larry Dennis lead a group to Mongolia to conduct leadership and psychology seminars for the uniformed services; to deepen connections with business leaders in Ulan Bataar; and encourage missionaries through Mongolia Campus Crusades for Christ. Youth South Africa Mission

Each summer the high school graduates travel to Cape Town to work with Living Hope Ministries. They spend their time working primarily with children who live in some of the poorest, most neglected regions of the world. Rory McConnell for more information.
